Drinking water project for Kandy South

Public utilities such as drinking water are essential to communities, and projects to provide such facilities will never be forgotton by the masses, said Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister, Deputy Finance Minister and UPFA Kandy district leader for the general election, Dr. Sarath Amunugama.

He was addressing a meeting held at the auditorium of Sri Pragnarathna College, Kandy to mark the commissioning of the Kandy South drinking water supply project costing Rs. 9626 million and funded by the Japan and Denmark governments.

"Although the Mahavali river flows around the Kandy city, the residents suffered without adequate drinking water for a long period. Under the newly commissioned project, more than 350,000 people living in five Divisional Secretariat Divisions - namely Udu Nuwara, Yati Nuwara, Udapalatha, Ganga Ihelakorale and Gangawate Korale - will be benefited", he said.
