Madduma Bandara scotches rumours

The UNP's Moneragala district candidate Ranjith Madduma Bandara denied allegations that he was planning to cross over to the Government if he gets elected to the Parliament at Thursday's general elections.

"I will not leave the UNP. Instead, I would remain in the party and fight against injustice and wrongdoings of the party leadership. Why should I leave? There is no need and it's my party and we are genuine UNPers," he said yesterday.

He said there has been an organised campaign to spread rumours against him and fool the voters in Moneragala.

"I know who originates such stories so as to prevent me from returning to Parliament. But people in the Moneragala district are very intelligent. They know who at the opportunists who had invaded our party who can not hoodwink the public. The people are with me and I am sure that they would make me top the UNP list," he said.
