Mahanama surprise DSS

CRICKET: Mahanama College batsman Dulika Thissakuttige hit a fighting half century to help Mahanama College win by five wickets in their fourth annual inter-school Battle of the Golds one-day match against the traditional rivals D.S. Senanayake concluded at the SSC ground in Maitland Place yesterday. This is a second win of Mahanama College.

Earlier Chathura Wanniarachi (29 n.o.) and Sajith Ruberu (26 n.o.) contributed to win the match.

Superb bowling by Randika Wickramasinghe helped him to claim four wickets for 24 runs. Chamod Wickramasinghe (39) was the top scorer for D.S. Senanayake, while Wasuki Wetekepotha (29) and Malshan Gunasinghe (26), also clipped in.

The fourth annual Battle of the Golds was sponsored by Dialog Telekom.

D.S. Senanayake: 179 in 49.3 Overs (Chamod Wickramasinghe 39, Wasuki Wetekepotha 29, Malshan Gunasinghe 26, Randika Wlikannage 4 for 24, Chathura Wanniarachi 2 for 28).

Mahanama: 180 for 5 wickets in 44.4 Overs (Dulika Thissakuttige 84, Chathura Wanniarachi 29 n.o., Sajith Ruberu 26 n.o.).
