Range Bandara attacked

UNP Puttalam district candidate Palitha Range Bandara who was elected to parliament at last Thursday's poll came under a grenade attack by UNP candidate Shantha Abeysekera and his supporters around 5.00 p.m. at Marawila yesterday, police spokesman, SP Prashantha Jayakody said.

Bandara was transferred to an emergency ward of the Colombo National Hospital after being admitted to the Marawila hospital.

Five suspects including UNP candidate Shantha Abeysekera have been arrested and remanded the police spokesman said.
