The trend on usage of sunglasses
seems to be enhancing continuously. Their popularity can be observed
vastly among the youth. The mature generation also prefer to wear
sunglasses. So, what are the reasons for existence of very high demand
for sunglasses?
 It happens due to various reasons such as a habitual nature, a
fashion accessory, attitudes, for attractive purposes and most
importantly, prevention from scorching sunlight. The belief is that
various designs of sunglasses protect eyes from Ultra Violet (UV) rays
that emerge from the sun.
The history of sunglasses extend up to the period where the Roman
emperors lived. Famous emperor Nero had used emeralds to watch the
gladiators fight. During the 12th century, Chinese court judges used
some kind of crystals to avoid the transmission of their facial
impression to the victims while they asked questions. That can be
considered as the historical use of sunglasses.
Famous characters such as film stars, singers, sports personalities
in the middle and the latter part of the 20th century regarded
sunglasses highly. Due to those reasons, sunglasses became one of the
trendiest fashions and profitable businesses.
The purpose of usage of sunglasses differs from person to person.
Nowadays, sunglasses are increasingly used by the youth as a fashionable
accessory. Their intention of wearing the sunglasses is to add more
attraction to their appearance.
  The mature segment of the population may use sunglasses for the same
requirements as that of the young generation. In addition to that, they
use sunglasses to prevent their eyes from harmful effects of the
environment.
Actually, high quality sunglasses can be used for purposes other than
fashion. These can protect our eyes from destructive long term and short
term effects such as Photokeratitis, Snow blindness, Cataracts and
Pterygium. As we all know, disastrous UV rays from the sun is conveyed
to the earth and react with the atmosphere.
The ozone layer does not absorb all the UV rays from the sun.
By using UV protected sunglasses, the user can prevent their eyes
from serious problems. Sunglasses also help to limit the blue rays
reaching the eye.
Most people who are involved who work outdoors largely use sunglasses
for protecting their eyes from the glare. This is the reason why
cricketers, golf players and beach games players demand better
sunglasses.
Overall, sunglasses are pretty useful but they can be fashionable at
the same time so get a pair today!
