Chennai deports Prabha's mother

LTTE chief V Prabhakaran's mother, Parvati Veluppillai, who arrived in Chennai on Friday night from Malaysia was deported immediately by the Indian authorities as the Central Government did not permit her visit there, reports from India said.

Military sources said that she may not return to Sri Lanka as the government had already given her custody to an ex-TNA MP who made arrangements for her to be sent to Malaysia to live with some of her relatives.

"She no longer is our business," he said.

Parvati, who is ailing with paralysis was due to be admitted to a hospital in Tamil Nadu. She had arrived from Kuala Lumpur but policemen did not permit her to alight from the aircraft, the agency reports said quoting officials in Chennai.

She was handed over to an ex-TNA MP M.K.Shivajilingam who contested from his own party at the January 26 presidential election and the general election last week and helped her to fly to Malaysia a few weeks ago.

Parvati was initially reported to be taken to her daughter Vinothini who is living in Canada but she later expressed a desire to live in Tamil Nadu.
