HNB empowers Jaffna youth
Hatton National Bank PLC (HNB) recently handed over certificates to
the first batch of 35 School leavers from Jaffna who completed the
"Certificate Course in Elementary Banking and Finance."
The course was conducted by the HNB Training Centre for school
leavers in Jaffna. Rajendra Theagarajah, Managing Director / CEO of HNB,
J.R.P.M Paiva, Deputy General Manager Human Resources and Administration
HNB, Manaram Rambukwella, Senior Manager Training and Development HNB,
Prof M. Nadarajasundaram-Faculty of Management Studies, University of
Jaffna attended the ceremony held at the Jaffna Public Library
Auditorium recently.
Simultaneously the second batch of students were welcomed to the
programme.
With the cessation of hostilities a large number of business and
financial institutions are actively expanding their businesses in Jaffna.
They can be seen enthusiastically engaging themselves in opening
branch offices to serve the fledgling Jaffna community. As a result of
the rapid business expansion the need for trained human resource is very
high in the peninsula.
The demand for well trained youth who have the required knowledge of
English, computer literacy, professional skills is very high. HNB's
endeavour to train youth from the peninsula itself to cater to this
growing demand specially in the financial services sector under its CSR
initiatives.
