 Snow in APRIL
It is not every day snow falls
in April but the Excel World Entertainment Park is bringing back their
very chilled snow dome Holiday Snowfest to let you cool off the steam in
the spring heat.
Avurudu should be a time of celebration and getting together at the
Excel World for some family fun. And this is sure to lift one’s spirit.
The snow season was brought because the management of Excel World
wanted to offer a twist to their traditional Avurudu games. In this
heat, the only thing you really want to do is cool down and get indoors
and what better way than to play with snow crusted snowflakes. The
complete snow works encompass ‘clouds’ where fake snow flakes drop and
form a thick sheet of ice below.
There is even a live DJ with special sound effects and lights who
will set the cool mood. Using 1500 crushed ice cubes for the base,
another 200 cubes are put to encrust the soft top layer. About 350 ice
cubes are used everyday to sustain the top layer and 60 ice cubes are
used for fake snow flakes for every show.
 Even though logistically it is a highly expensive thing to bring snow
to Sri Lanka with many ice cubes crushed at a high electricity power,
the rewarding smiling faces of the children and adults make it all the
more worth it.
The people who have the most fun are the elderly so it is a family
fun-filled event to indulge during the holiday.
So hurry and get your snow shoes on before it closes its gates on the
30th of April!
