'Maname' and 'Nari Bena' at the Lionel Wendt

Prof. Ediriwira Sarachchandra's 'Maname' and Dayananda Gunawardena's
'Naribena' samaga 'Jasaya saha Lenchina' will be staged at the Lionel
Wendt Theatre on May 7 and 9 at 3.30 p.m. and 7.00 p.m.
Sakunthala dance drama in Jaffna
Sakunthala, dance drama, a masterpiece by Mahakavi Kalidasa will go
on the boards at the Veerasingam hall in Jaffna on May 5. The Indian
Cultural Centre will present the drama which is directed by Aru Sri Art
Theatre.
The lyrics and music composition for the dance drama is by Kalasuri
Arunthathy SriRanganathan.Dance choreography is by the senior dancers of
the theatre, Josita Peter, Sakitha Kugamoorthy, Abiramy Kandeepan, Luxmy,
Sharma and jegath.
P.K. Vikas ,the veteran dancer from Kalakshethra India and
kalamandalam, Kerala will perform as a guest artist. The choreography is
done primarily in Bharathanatyam, with flavours from kathakali, Kathak,
Oddessey, Kuchupudi, and Kalari. It also merges the two main streams of
Indian classical music and Indian classical dance styles. It is produced
and directed by the Aru Sri Art Theatre.

Road, Nugegoda. from May 04 - 18.

Viva-La-Vida
Viva-La-Vida, a concert presented by the western music unite of
Vishaka Vidyalaya will be held on April 30 at Jeremias Dias Hall at 6.30
p.m. Over 250 students will take part in the concert. Junior and Senior
Choirs of the school will take part in the event. |Senior Choir was
trained by Sanjeeva Jayaratne while Junior Choir was by Mrs. Natali
Goonaratne and the teacher in charge Mrs. Vajira Nanayakkara.
The event is a fundraiser to finance the participation of students in
8th Malaysian Chural Eisteddfod. |
