Fishtails to improve swimming activities

SWIMMING: Fishtail Aquatic Club, Mutwal, the second oldest swimming
club in the country, founded in 1947, will make every effort to produce
swimmers of former class in the future, said Mohan Perera who was
elected as the President of the club at the annual general meeting held
recently at the club house.
The club had top swimmers namely Marks brothers - Boris and Jeffry
both who represented the country, N. Nanayakkara the swimmer to
participate in the famous Palk Strait swim, Speldewindes, Rizvi Zain,
Everard La Faber, E.P. Premadasa to name a few.
The newly elected President Mohan added that with the assistance of
the Sri Lanka Aquatic Sports Union we hope to start a learn to swim
campaign early and schoolchildren from Colombo North will be invited to
participate. The talented swimmers will be picked and special swimming
classes too will be arranged during the weekends.
We hope to field some swimmers for the Novices Swimming Championships
to be held during the month of June added Mohan.
