Australian Star Milk Powder launched
Sha Lanka Trading announced the launch of 'Australian Star' the
newest entrant to the milk powder arena in the Country.
The premium milk powder brand from Australia will have three variants
in its portfolio; full cream milk powder, instant full cream milk powder
and non-fat skim milk powder.
Sha Lanka Trading is an Associate Company of Sunil Traders.
Managing Partner of Sunil Traders Sunil Muthumala made the
announcement at a media briefing at which Australian High Commissioner
Kathy Klugman was chief guest. Sunil Muthumala said the entry of
Australian Star to the local market reflects the importance of Sri Lanka
in Australian Star's global operations.
Backed by the marketing acumen of Sha Lanka Trading which introduced
the medium priced and hugely popular Candy brand of milk powder to Sri
Lanka, Australian Star hopes to achieve 5% market share within the first
six months of operation.
The phased distribution will first see the packs in most supermarkets
and outlets in Colombo and the near suburbs with plans to extend to all
parts of Sri Lanka with special focus on the North and the East.
Chief Executive Officer of Sha Lanka Travine Gomez said he was
confident that Australian Star would be hugely popular and widely
accepted given the local market scenario of milk powder clocking in
excellent growth and being the popular choice because of easy storage
and requiring no refrigeration. 'We offer consumers a 100% premium
Australian product at an affordable price.
Competition may be tough but consumption of dairy products has been
growing annually', said Gomez.
The response for Australian Star in Sri Lanka has been very good so
far' said Vernon Quinn of QuinComm, one of Australia's largest dairy
industries. Established in 2004, QuinComm has emerged as a mega player
in the global dairy industry, supplying Australian Star brand to
Countries in Africa, Asia and the Caribbean.
