An order for disorder

The scene is set for a series of hilarious incidents. When Vijaya Nandasiri (Mago), Gamini Susiriwardena (Digo) and their furry, four-footed companion, front-line police dog from Balukistan (Dai) team up, the result is ‘Magodi Godai’ (disorder)!

Add the bubbly and beautiful Anarkalli Aakarsha to the scene along with a few villains and victims and you get the perfect team for a romantic comedy. That is exactly the choice that director Lal Priyadeva and producer Janitha Marasinghe had in mind when they roped in the actors for their latest cinematic venture.

‘Mago Digo Dai’ the latest film of Priyadeva’s is being screened at Savoy, Wellawatte, and 32 EAP theatres islandwide.

“Our main focus is on entertainment but we also wish to portray the true situation of the country through movies. It deals with social issues and unmasks the dual face of the authorities,” noted Priyadeva who is the maker of movies such as ‘Jolly Hello’ and ‘Nommara Ekkay Chandiya’. His movie ‘Ali Petiyo Obai Mamai’ became a hit in 2006.

‘Mago Digo Dai’ focuses on the ventures of two agents from the police intelligence unit. Sergeant C. K. Perera and PC I. O. Aari become heroes after preventing a crime from taking place. Unfortunately it turns out that the two ‘crooks’ they nabbed are both innocent citizens. Amila pines for the love of a girl and Malith is his supporter. Nothing prepares them to bear the consequences of their actions as the two hatches a plan to win over Amila.

Perera and Aari’s triumphant mood is deflated when the unit lands in a serious situation in their hands when a group of thugs kidnap the Minister’s daughter. After adapting the code names ‘Mago’ and ‘Digo’, Perera and Aari fall hot on the trail of the villains.

In their pursuit they are accompanied by their newest companion, police dog Dai. Funnily enough though the authorities swear that the dog is well trained for the case, Dai seems to have a mind of his own and does not obey the commands given by his new masters. What follows is a string of episodes which will keep you rolling in your seats with laughter.

The movie also marks the maiden film production of well-known film importer and film co-producer, Janitha Marasinghe. He had co-produced Udayakantha Warnasuriya’s ‘Ran Kewita’ and ‘Le Kiri Kandulu’ while importing Bollywood hits such as ‘Krrish’, ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’, ‘Kambakht Ishq’ and others.

Actors Sanath Gunathilake, Ronnie Leitch, Sarath Chandrasiri, Anton Jude, Teddy Vidyalankara, Sunil Hettiarachchi, Wasala Senarath, Dilshani Perera and others comprise the rest of the cast.
