Promoted Ministry Secretary

Additional Secretary to the President Gamini Senarath has been
promoted to the level of a Ministry Secretary.
This follows a unanimous decision taken by the new Cabinet at its
maiden meeting recently. A past pupil of Rahula College, Matara and
Richmond College, Galle and an Honours Graduate of the Kelaniya
University and Post Graduate in Computer Science from the Colombo
University, Senarath is a senior SLAS officer who has held many senior
public service posts.
He started his public service career in 1984 as AGA, Trincomalee. In
1985 he was appointed assistant controller of Immigration and Emigration
and later promoted Deputy Controller.
Thereafter he was appointed Commissioner of Motor Traffic on January
1, 2003.
When President Mahinda Rajapaksa earlier became Prime Minister he was
appointed Additional Secretary to the Prime Minister.
In 2005 he was appointed Additional Secretary to the President and
functioned as Chief of the Presidential Staff. |
