MFA determined to get moving

Football: Mercantile Football Association (MFA) with nearly fifty
registered firms will have the chance of participating in five
tournaments this year.
Furthermore, there is every likelihood that a tournament for women in
the mercantile sector will also be organised said, A. Milton Fernando,
the President of the Mercantile FA. Fernando added that new mercantile
firms could also now register with the MFA and also participate in the
2010 tournaments.
The MFA has already written to the affiliated firms with regards to
holding a women's football tournament for the first time. "We are
awaiting possible response from the affiliates," addend Milton Fernando.
The tournament to be held are: League Tournament in five divisions
'A', 'B', 'C'. 'D' and 'E', knock-out tournament in 'A' and 'B'
divisions, seven-a-side tournament with 50 teams taking part, beach
soccer tournament and women's soccer tournament. The tournaments will
begin in June at two venues - City Football League Sports Complex
grounds and CR & FC grounds.
Fernando said that Mercantile FA team to represent the inter-league
tournament conducted by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka will be
selected on completion of the League and knock-out tournaments L.F.
