Java Lane outplay Saunders, enter quarter finals

Java Lane Sports Club created a major upset in the ongoing Holcim FA cup soccer tournament when they ousted the glamour boys of soccer Saunders SC yesterday beating them one goal to nil. The match which was played at the city football complex. At half time the scoreboard was a blank one. After the turn around the home team playing a hard attacking game found the most wanted goal through the boot of S.M. Lectron. Though the boys from Pettah Club tried hard to find the equaliser failed.

Java Lane SC with this victory moved toward the quarter final stage.

Police victorians

In another game of the same tournament police also made their way to the quarter finals. To reach this stage they defeated the young team from Slave Island the Colombo football club one goal to nil. Both teams failed to score during the first session of play.

The solitary goal for the victorious police team was scored in the second session of play. (B.P)
