She was determined to succeed
from her childhood. She is very courageous. She believed in her talents.
Today, she stands high in the music world as a victorious, young and
pretty singer. She is Beyonce (Beyonce Giselle Knowles) and she is not a
stranger to Sri Lankan music lovers at all. Almost all Sri Lankan youth
know her very well so let’s enlighten those who don’t know her!
 Do you know how she became so popular? There was nothing in favour of
her during her childhood. All that she had was the support of her
beloved parents, her talents, determination and courage. You may not
believe how some media launched a `crusade’ against her during the early
days of her career. The American media did not want to see her become a
star for some reason. Some journalists hated her for no reason when she
was rising to fame. But nothing could stop her!
Beyonce was born on September 4, 1981. She is an American R&B
recording artiste, actress and model. Born and raised in Houston, Texas,
she enroled in various performing arts schools and was first exposed to
singing and dancing competitions as a child. Knowles rose to fame in the
late 1990s as the lead singer of the R&B girl group ‘Destiny’s Child’,
one of the world’s best-selling girl groups of all time.
Beyonce has already won hundreds of international awards for her
multi-talents, especially in music. With 16 Grammy Awards, eight soul
train music awards, seven Billboard Music Awards, six BET Awards, five
MOBO Awards, three American Music Awards under her belt, there are many
more. There were 29 Grammy nominations for Beyonce during the past. The
total number of awards won by her so far is 105 and there were 117
nominations.
Beyonce’s determination and courage is a very good example for any
female artiste who believes in her talents and aimed at becoming a star
one day. She gave a very good answer for the journalists who did not
