Lothario nabbed by police

A man who had a string of promiscuous affairs with wealthy women and stole their gold jewellery and other valuables after drugging them inside hotel rooms was arrested by the Maradana police last Friday. The man who duped these women was arrested by policemen after following several clues, Police Media Spokesman SP, Prishantha Jayakody told the Sunday Observer.

According to Maradana police a woman had lodged a complaint a few months ago that she befriended a man whom she met at a clothing store at Borella. The man spoke to her in a friendly manner and bought her a gift at the shop. He then asked for her cellular phone number and both of them exchanged calls with each other. After making love to her over the phone he proposed marriage and invited her to meet him near a popular school at Maradana.

When she turned up he invited her to accompany him to Matara. When she consented he summoned a taxi cab service and proceeded to Matara where they checked into a luxury hotel. The man after having sex, drugged her and stole her jewellery, cash and the cellular mobile phone worth more than Rs. 7 lakhs.

The Maradana police after several weeks tracked his telephone numbers and arrested him at Miriswatta in the Gampaha area. The Police questioned him and learnt that he had spent a night at a hotel in Bopath Ella in the Kuruwita area in the company of another woman from Walasmulla.

He then drugged and stole her gold jewellery and cash Rs. 230,000 including her mobile phone.

Prior to the episode he had spent a night with another married woman from Ruwanwella at a hotel in the Nittambuwa area and after sex drugged her and stole her gold jewellery and cash over Rs. 200,000.

The Police Media Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody said that the suspect is wanted for similar cases by other police stations.
