Blue film video parlour chief sees red

The proprietor of a video parlour was taken in for questioning by the Medawachchiya police following detection of a sophisticated computer containing several obscene films and compact discs at his video parlour at Athinikanda last week, Police Media Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody said.

According to the police, the suspect had been running a lucrative but illegal business by downloading obscene films from the Internet and copying them on compact discs to be sold among service personnel in the area and schoolchildren who called over frequently at his video parlour.

A compact disc was sold at Rs 500 to only known customers but unwittingly he sold a disc to a police decoy who posed off as a service personnel.

Police said that when they raided the video parlour they found 40 folders containing obscene films in the computer along with other accessories. The raid on the video parlour was conducted by Sub Inspector Vidana Gamage and a police party following a tip off.
