Dewmith Weerasena an up-and-coming TT player
T.T.- Dewmith Weerasena, Grade 2E student of Lyceum International
School, Nugegoda is an-up-and-coming player in table tennis and his
talents will have to be sharpened in the years to come to go up the
ladder of success.
He is a keen follower of the game and devotes much time. He has won
several championship awards, winning the All-Island TT Championship
under-8 category conducted by the St. Joseph’s Table Players Parents
Association, Kegalle held on May 1 and 2.
He also won under-8 championships of the 3rd TT championships by the
Indika/Deepika TT Academy on 29th March.
He was the semi-finalist of the All-Island Novices Championships
conducted by the Wellawatta Sports Club on 24th, 25th April and was the
runner-up in the under-8 singles category of Western Province Junior TT
Ranking TT Championship held on 20th February.
He was also the under-8 champion in Inter-school TT tournament
conducted by Lyceum International Schools. The 7-year-old Dewmith
Weerasena is presently participating in the All-Island Schools Team
Table Tennis Championships in the under-10 age group at S. Thomas’
College Indoor Stadium in Mt.Lavinia.
He is trained by former Sri Lanka National Champion Indika Prasad the
TT coach.
