Close win for Isipathana

RUGBY: Isipatana College survived a fierce second half rally to beat St. Anthony's College, Kandy by 16 points to 15 points in a thrilling Singer Inter-School Under-20 League Rugby Tournament match played at Havelock Park yesterday.

The winners collected their points from one goal and three penalties after having led 13-7 at half time. The Antonians responded with one goal, one try and one penalty.

Joes thrash Lumbini 73-10

RUGBY: St. Joseph's College put up another splendid performance to beat Lumbini MV by 73 points to 10 points in their Singer Inter-School Under-20 League Rugby Tournament match worked off at Longden Place yesterday.

The winners collected their points from nine goals and three tries after having led 40-3 at half time. Lumbini MV responded with one goal and one penalty.


Schools Hockey postponed

Girls and boys schools hockey nationals which was scheduled to be played at Matale this weekend has been indefinitely postponed due to inclement weather and transport problems for teams from the flood affected areas. New dates of the tournament will be announced later.
