$ 2m iced tea project to be set up

Walters Bay Bogawantalawa Estates (Pvt) Ltd will invest US$ 2 million to set up a state-of-art processing centre to manufacture Iced tea in packaged form for export to Walters Bay USA.

The processing centre will be equipped with all the machinery to manufacture iced tea which includes the brewing machine, water filter system and the own water recipe with adjusted TDS/Hardness to guarantee consistency of its product quality .

Chairman, Bogawantalawa Tea Estates PLC, Dinesh Ambani signed the BOI agreement on behalf of “Walters Bay Bogawantalawa Estates (Pvt) Ltd” recently. Bogawantalawa Tea Estates PLC (BTEL) is a Blue Chip Plantation Company.

Its group annual turnover exceeds US$ 30 million. BTEL shares at present are traded at the Colombo Stock Exchange.

The company’s high grown tea estates are in the Bogawantalawa Valley known as the “Golden Valley of Ceylon Tea”, producing some of the best high grown teas in the world.

The quality policy of Bogawantalawa is to offer the best teas manufactured under the strictest hygienic conditions at the correct time to the requisite standards.

Their estates, factories and processing plants have received the international certifications.
