How
scorpions look after their young
You may have heard that most insects take very little care of their
young, but scorpion mums are rather protective of their young. It has
been observed that they generally carry their young on their backs, safe
beneath their sting.
Once the young reach three weeks and are strong enough, they fall off
and live on their own. You would also be amazed to learn that scientists
have predicted that in the event of a nuclear war, which we sincerely
hope would never come to pass, the only creature that are likely to
survive it are the scorpions, because, they are capable of withstanding
200 times the radiation that would normally kill a human.
How
mushrooms and toadstools sprout
Did you know that mushrooms and toadstools sprout from a root system
that exists underground throughout the year? Over 1500 million spores
may be produced from each plant. It is from these spores that the plants
sprout.
Who

The Incas were a great people and their empire developed in South
America, covering what is known as Peru today.
They were mostly farmers, craftsmen and master builders and the ruins
of the hill town, Machu Picchu which still stand high in the Andes, are
a testament to their skills.
Why
we cry when peeling onions
Have you wondered why you can never peel an onion without tears
running down your cheeks? If so, here's the answer. An oil called allyl
which is inside the onion escapes into the air when it is cut. This
irritates the nerves in our eyes and nose and these nerves send a cry
for help to the brain. What does the brain do then? It responds with
tears to soothe the stinging.
