Tri Star to open factories in NE

Tri-Star Apparel Exports (Pte) Ltd has employed 150 young women who were selected from rehabilitation centres in the North.

Tri-Star Chairman Desamanya Kumar Devapura handed over the appointment letters to the employees at the Tri-Star factory in Ratmalana recently. The new appointees will be given a three month training and paid Rs. 10,000 per month during the training period.

On the completion of training their salary will be increased to Rs. 12,000.

Tri-Star Apparel Exports (Pte) Ltd plans to give employment opportunities to 1500 persons additionally by opening three garment factories in the Northern and Eastern provinces within six months.

Tri-Star Apparel Exports (Pte) Ltd's garment factory in Tambalagamuwa in the Trincomalee District employs youth displaced from the Northern and Eastern provinces. The proposed garment factories will come up in Vavuniya, Batticaloa and Killinochchi according to Tri-Star sources.

This follows a request made by Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa to Tri-Star Apparel Exports (Pte) Ltd Chairman Desamanya Kumar Devapura.
