Former Malaysian PM to address business forum
The Keynote Address at the first International Business Leaders Forum
organised by Sri Lanka Malaysia Business Council will be delivered by
former Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr. Mahathir Mohamad. Themed
"Malaysian Development Experience and Opportunities for Sri Lanka's
Economic Ascendance" the forum will be held on June 9, at the Oak Room,
Cinnamon Grand and continue as an annual event. Sri Lanka is at a
critical and interesting juncture, historically as well as economically.
The business community and society are expecting growth, economic
resurgence and development. With the war affected regions opening up,
much is expected from the Government to steer the economy in the right
direction.
The aim of the SLMBC is to contribute by igniting the thought process
and support both political and business leadership in the formulation of
strategies and actions, through this Business Forum.
Therefore, the Council is honoured to have Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, who
will be sharing his experiences in driving Malaysia to become a leading
economy with emphasis on strategies and policies adopted which steered
Malaysia successfully through the 1997/98 Asian financial crisis.
This will be followed by a panel discussion.
The panel will comprise Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Deputy Minister of
Finance, Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Governor Central Bank, Ajith Nivard
Cabraal and Group CEO, Dialog Telekom, Dr. Hans Wijesuriya, with the
session being chaired by Vice President SLMBC and Chairman Mackwoods
Ltd, Dr. Chris Nonis.
The forum will provide an interactive platform to learn, express
views and contribute towards Sri Lanka's development.
