'GRI check' for John Keells
The John Keells Group's Sustainability Report 2009/2010 became the
country's first to achieve a 'GRI check' by the Global Reporting
Initiative Organisation at a disclosure Level B(+).
The report has also been assured and verified by a third party - Det
Norske Veritas (DNV) in accordance to Accountability's AA1000 Assurance
Standard (2008).
The group obtained a GRI disclosure Level C(+) last year, and
currently has upgraded its sustainability process this year expanding
the group's scope to achieve a disclosure Level B(+). This further
emphasises the group's commitment on reporting its Triple Bottom Line (TBL)
performance which is intended to be a commitment on progress to all its
stakeholders.
The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) is a network-based organisation
that has pioneered the development of the world's most widely used
sustainability -reporting framework and is committed to its continuous
-improvement and application worldwide.
Sustainability reports based on the GRI framework can be used to
benchmark organisational performance with respect to laws, norms, codes,
performance standards and voluntary initiatives; demonstrate
organizational commitment to sustainable development; and compare
organizational performance over time.
