Bharti Airtel Lanka, a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel, one of Asia's
largest integrated service providers announced its move into the Eastern
Province of Sri Lanka. Airtel expands services to Ampara, Kalmunai,
Batticaloa and Trincomalee districts and now covers over 70% of
addressable population throughout the island. CEO, Bharti Airtel Lanka
Amali Nanayakkara said, "We are delighted at being given this
opportunity to serve the people of the Eastern Province and contribute
to its growth".
To provide accessibility of its services across the province, Airtel
has inaugurated four dedicated Airtel Stores to supplement its network
of 2,000 retail touchpoints across all districts. This increases
Airtel's overall retail strength across the island to over 18,000.
Airtel has also introduced innovative products and services and
attractive call rates for both local and IDD, for the customers of the
East.
These range from an attractive Handset Bundle Offer presented
together with Nokia, which offers a Tamil keypad, free talktime, and SMS
and data downloads upto one GB. Customers of the East can also enjoy a
variety of Value Added Services like free prayers and prayer alerts,
free welcome tunes, devotional content and also, South Indian
entertainment content.
Upto 40% discount over market rates are offered for calls made to
India and selected Middle Eastern countries.
