Final week’s voting in OBSERVER-MOBITEL cricket

Hot race is on for top positions
OBSERVER-MOBITEL: A hot race is on to reach the 100,000 vote mark in
the OBSERVER-MOBITEL Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer of the Year 2010
in both the All-Island and in the Outstation Contests. In the All-Island
Contest, the contest is really very close with three contestants -
Royalist Shavinda Edirisuriya, the present leader with 98,129 votes with
Kithruwan Vithange also of Royal in second place with 97,610 votes and
Peterite Chathura Peiris in third position with 97,050 votes. Nipun
Karunanayake of Nalanda College is fourth with 89,961 votes.
In the Outstation Contest, K. Wickremarachchi of Gamini MV, Bentota
is in the lead with 80,672 votes closely followed by Malinda
Samarasekera of Maris Stella College, Negombo with 80,473 votes.
Presently in third position is S. Rajaguru of Nugawela Central with
77,938 votes. This week, the final coupon (No. 22) on voting in the
Sunday Observer in the OBSERVER-MOBITEL Most Popular Schoolboy Cricketer
of the Year 2010 All-Island and Outstation appears today (June 6) on
page 23. Entries close on 9th June, 2010 for both the All-Island and
Outstation Contests.
