Kurullantha Thatu Labadeema

Wasantha Nanmaskara's 71st exhibition of selected paintings entitled
''Kurullantha Thatu Labadeema'' (Giving Wings to brids) will be held at
Uva Provincial Library Visual Art Gallery, Rase corse Road, Badulla a
whole month from 26th June to 24th July.
Digeka Avith and Kandoskiriya
Namel Weeramuni's newest productions, of two One Act Comedies - Digka
Avith, an adaptation by Namel, of Chekov's "The Proposal", highly
acclaimed vaudeville, which had been a text in schools for the last so
many years and Kandoskiriya, an election booth satire by Somapala
Gunadheera goes on the boards on the 20 May at 6.45 p.m and (on 21 May
at 9.30 a.m for school children only) at Namel Malini Punchi Theatre,
Borella. "Both evoke peals of laughter and are highly entertaining - all
round fantastic dramatic productions". Cast include Wijerathne
Warakagoda, Malini Weeramuni, Grace Ariyawimal, Daya Tennakoon, Mercy
Edirisinghe, Sanett Dikkumbura, Lalith Rajapaksa, Anusha Dissanayake,
Surangani Kosala, Anil Wijesinhge, Pabath Manohara, and Sangith Perera.
National Craft Exhibition
The National Craft Exhibition by National Crafts Council will be held
from July 22 to July 25at the BMICH. The exhibition is sponsored by the
Ministry of Rural Industries and Self-Employment Promotion. A trade
exhibition will also be held parallel to the NCE.
Exhibition of paintings

A solo exhibition of paintings by Wimal Darmarathne will be held from
June 11 to June 13 at Lionel Wendt Art Gallery.
Damsel of death
'Damsel of death', an anthology of poetry by Namel Weeramuni will be
launched on June 17 at 4.00 p.m. at Punchi Theatre. Prof. Wimal
Dissanayake will deliver the keynote address and Edwin Ariyadasa will
deliver a speech while Gunadasas Amerasekar will preside over the
meeting. |
