Victory Parade on Friday

The Victory Parade that was postponed due to the inclement weather which prevailed last month will be held on June 18 at the Galle Face Green with the participation of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, Three Forces Commanders, IGP and Director General of the Civil Defence Force.

“Thousands of troops from the three Forces, police and the Civil Security Force will march in the parade representing the theatres in the Northern and Eastern battlefronts as planned earlier”, Military Spokesman Major General Prasad Samarasinghe said. According to military officials the rehersals for the Victory Parade will be held from June 14 at the Galle Face Green. The ceremony to place floral tributes at the war heroes monument at the Parliamentary grounds will be held on June 14 at 4.30 p.m.
