National Business Excellence Awards launched
The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) launched the
National Business Excellence Awards at a ceremony held in Colombo on
Tuesday. The ceremony will be held at the Colombo Hilton on November 25.
The primary objective of the awards is to recognise business
organisations which have excelled and contributed to the socio-economic
development of the country.
The capacity to develop businesses, employment generation,
competitiveness, entrepreneurial spirit and adoption of best practices
are the other objectives of the awards.
Registered business enterprises which have been operating for a
minimum of three years prior to the date of submitting the application
could apply.
The enterprises will be categorised as extra large, large, medium,
small and micro.
Deputy President, NCCSL, Sunil Wijesinghe said the Chamber expects a
record number of applicants from a wide spectrum of sectors. Group
Director, Marketing and Sales, Ceylon Biscuits Ltd., (the Overall Gold
Award Winner 2009), Nandana Wickramage said an organisation deserves
awards not only for its top and bottom line performances but also for
the overall growth that helps it reach the pinnacle.
Secretary General/CEO, NCCSL, E.M.Wijetilleke said Corporate Social
Responsibility a vital aspect for an award, is not mere charity. It is
the relevance and the benefits of the activities that is important.
The NCCSL set up in 1948 held the first awards in 2004.
