Japanese language training centre extends courses

Kalutara, Katukurunda Japanese language training centre recently conducted a Japanese Origami program for the teachers in the Kalutara district. Over 30 school teachers participated at this practical Origami training program.

The program was conducted by teachers Ukiko and Takashi Kobayashi.

The training centre is one of the leading Japanese Language institutes in Sri Lanka where hundreds of students follow courses and sit for the Japanese language proficiency examination conducted by the Japanese government, the principal of the institute Ven. Maharagama Somarathana Thera said.

Experienced Japanese language teachers from Japan and senior lecturers of the Japanese language department of the University of Kelaniya conduct courses at the institute. Ven.Somarathana Thera, who is also the chairman of the Sri Lanka Japan Solidarity Organisation gets assistance from various organisations and individuals in Japan to maintain professionalism of the courses.

He said that those who are seeking job opportunities in Japan, those engaged in the tourism sector and school children follow courses. The teacher training program was organised to extend the courses to school children, he said.
