Little Hiruni

You are the granddaughter
I had
While I am a stranger to my own
The aching to hear
A familiar sound
To laugh and make fun
Are all gone
When you went away
To a distant land
Oh! My dearest dear
You gave warmth
And kindness
In my old age
Which I will cherish
To the end of my days

- T. M. Ariyawansa Rodrigo

Flood

A crucial moment of havoc in the sky
Black cloud blanket covers the sun
Moon and stars go on holiday
Sky cries, vomits and roars

Strong winds are in the battlefield
Heavy rains deliver bomshells
Nature is disturbed and
Human beings are been displaced

Again refugee camps and cooked food
Loss of lives and injured
Epidemic is in the forefront
The voiceless and the poor are
In the list of affected again

Water comes from every nook and corner
Oh! Where are my child and wife?
This is the cry in the floods
And the question: When will the sun come?
Again a struggle to survive and to live ahead

- Anne Jerin Paul

Teenage

It smells like a garden in the spring
Where you see lots of beautiful flowers blooming
It's time to do new styles and enjoying
And it's time to life far entertaining

Feel no matter whatever happens
Things are must in teenage patterns
"I don't care what others say!"
These are the words that teens say

Problems may come and go and again come
Don't think about the past
Go ahead and pass all the bumps
Many new things touched, heard and seen,
But make sure the thoughts are clean

They reject their powerful bosses, advice and stay
Please don't do that I must say
To each and everything what they say
We must listen to them and must obey

Changed alot, in each dot
It brings happy to a teenage pot
When tenderness grows and get so strong
But remember
It's time to choose what's right and wrong

It begins with thirteen and ends with nineteen
Throughout this time have fun with all teens
No more forcing and no more wrath
Because we are all humans living on this earth

- Nilomi Mullegama

Love, race and loss

Lost in my thoughts
I walk through
The crowded streets of town
Searching for you
Smiling at me as long time ago...
My eyes are so tired
Sometimes I see you
But it is not you Honey...
Weeping is the best way
I try to make up my mind
Far comes the voice of bells
THE KOVIL BELLS
Then I realise "RACE"!
Race made us far apart
Silently I gaze at HIM-THE GOD
There, some of my race
Still worship him
Which the parents of mine
Couldn't understand...
For a moment I imagine
Myself clad in a saree
Garlands of jasmine nicely round my hair
And you by my side
We worship the SAME GOD
A dream, even not allowed to be dreamt of
A long time has passed
You left me forever
I did and I had to do some mistakes
But you will never know
How much I miss you honey
God - the ultimate decider
Please tell him
Tell him of my love
And tell the world....
We all - we all are of "one race"
For love, race and the LOSS
Should not repeat...

-The G2
