People’s Bank turns 49 with awards program

People’s Bank, voted by the prestigious A. C. Neilson as Sri Lanka’s
most loved bank, would be turning 49 on July 1.
The bank set up by the then Minister of Trade T. B. Ilangaratne has
once again initiated the presentation of awards to its loyal customers
to mark the anniversary. The ‘49th anniversary Ithurum Patha’ (Savings
Certificate) has been specially designed to mark the event. It would be
presented in three denominations of Rs. 5,000, 10,000 and Rs. 100,000.
These Savings Certificates would be available at its 340 plus
branches and Service Centers in the entire country including the North
and the East and the IDP camps as well.
This novel certificate would give the customers an opportunity to win
a grand prize of a two storied luxury house in the Western Province. In
addition 700 Sovereign gold coins, too, would be given away as prize
money during the six months promotion.
The draw which is expected to be held next February would be done via
a computer ensuring each branch gets one Sovereign Gold Coin.
A customer who buys a ‘49th anniversary Ithurum Patha’ to the value
of Rs. 50,000 and 100, 000 would get 10 and 20 counterfoils
respectively. One of the unique features of this ‘49th anniversary
Ithurum Patha’ is that interest would be provided and it could be
encashed at any branch or used to open an account.
“Therefore the customer would benefit” said Deputy General Manager,
Retail Banking, Dr. Nihal Ranjith Jayatilake.He said that bank staff
would do a door to door campagain to market these certificates and would
even go to the grass roots level in doing so.
