Navy rescues fishing trawler

The Sri Lanka Navy on Friday night brought the multi-day fishing
trawler 'Kapila Putha'to the Trincoamlee harbour after rescuing it 272
Km North East of Mullaitivu, Navy Spokesman Captain Athula Senerath told
the Sunday Observer.
Sri Lanka Navy offshore patrol vessel SLNS Prathapa rescued the five
crew member multi-day fishing trawler which had left Trincomalee harbour
on June 1, when they drifted due to inclement weather conditions.
"The SLNS Prathapa rescued the fishing trawler after sailing nearly
300 km and brought it to the Trincomalee harbour on Friday night", he
said.Captain Senerath said the crew members contacted the Navy on June
23.
Sri Lanka Navy had rescued another multi-day fishing trawler which
was distressed in the southern seas responding to the request from the
fishermen on board. The multi day fishing trawler 'Lucky Three' was
rescued by the SLNS Sayura on June 10. |
