Fillip for agriculture

A ministerial sub committee has been set up to expedite agricultural development activities on the instructions of Agriculture Minister Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

The ministerial sub committee comprises officials from the Agriculture, cooperatives and Internal Trade, Irrigation and Water Resources Management, Livestock Development Ministries said Agriculture Ministry Secretary K.O. Karunatileka.

The inaugural meeting of the ministerial sub committee was held last week.

Karunatileka said that the issues relating to the agricultural sector and the difficulties faced by farmers should be discussed by the relevant ministries.

The solutions to the farmers' problem should be found without delay to expedite the development process, he said.
