Pembara Lakmatha launched :
Tribute in song to war heroes
‘Pembara
Lakmatha’, a patriotic song pays tribute to the gallant war heroes,
on the occasion of the first anniversary of the liberation of the
motherland from over three decades of cruel terrorism, was gifted to the
nation at a launching ceremon at the Department of Government
Information under the patronage of Mass Media and Communication Minister
Keheliya Rambukwella and Director of Government Information Prof.
Ariyaratne Athugala on June 17.
The unique feature of this song is that its lyrics have been penned
by Rear Admiral Sarath Weerasekara MP who at one time rendered a vital
national service as Director General of the Civil Defence Force
following his retirement from active service in the Sri Lanka Navy.
The lyrics have been written in a manner that fittingly portrays the
dignity and pride of Sri Lankans and the wonders of Mother Lanka. The
music is composed by young and talented musician Visharada Nimal
Dissanayake, a music consultant to the National Youth Brigade, an
affiliate of the National Youth Services Council.
The song is sung by Visharada Nimal Dissanayake of the ‘Dream Team’
music group and two new generation vocalists Asanga de Alwis and
Buddhika Kuruppuarachchi, whose mellifluous voices add a new dimension
to it. The song will undoubtedly raise the patriotic fervour among Sri
Lankans to new heights.
Since a music video of this song has been issued to television
channels, viewers can enjoy this song from their drawing rooms. This CD

forces.
