The Colombo Municipal Council with the intention of promoting night
life in the Colombo city will start a night bazaar from the first week
of August at Green Path adjacent to the Viharamahadevi Park, the Special
Commissioner, Omar Kamil told the Sunday Observer.
He said the night bazaar will be held on Friday and Saturday from 6
pm to 12 midnight from the Public Library junction to St Bridget's
junction along Green Path.
"We are expecting to have restaurants, food items, textiles,
garments, fancy goods and other items available at this night bazaar.
Now we are collecting data about the people who are interested in
opening their shops at the night bazaar", Kamil added.
We intend to conduct it from the first week of August. Depending on
the response of the public we will decide on the frequency of conducting
this night bazaar", he said.
"Our aim is to improve night activities in the city and create an
environment for the people to engage in shopping during the night time
and also taking the full advantage of the end of the conflict", he
added.
