Uswatte land for vehicle trade

Two hundred and eight perches of land belonging to Uswatte Confectionery Works Ltd., better known as the House of Glucorasa will be sold shortly to a well known company in the vehicle trade.

Managing Director Quintus Perera said that they have received an offer for Rs 270 m, however it would be sold to the highest bidder.He said that the factory has already been shifted to Gorakapitiya Piliyandala and has started manufacturing instant drinks and the popular Uswatte peppermint. The company is planning to manufacture 60 items including jujubes and snacks by the end of this month. They have already sold one wafer line and a jujubes line.

Uswatta Liyanage Francis Peter Perera and Uswatta Liyanage Patrick Joseph Christoper Perera commenced production in the kitchens of rented premises in Koralawella Moratuwa in 1956.
