Adyapana 2010:
A gateway to higher education
by Gayan KANCHANA
Harnessing human resources for development depends on the skills of a
country's people. And that in turn requires a robust and effective
higher education system in place as the only mechanism that can produce
and sustain these skills, said Lanka Exhibitions and Conferences
Services (Pvt) Ltd (LECS) Director, Imran Hassan at a media briefing
held in Colombo last week to launch Adyapana 2010.
Adyapana 2010 is yet to create opportunities to the country's high
school graduates to map their collegiate and future career paths.
The three-day exhibition will be held for the fifth consecutive year
at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre (BMICH) from
October 15 to 17 for the first time.
This will be followed by Adyapana Kandy, October 22 - 24 at the main
hall of Trinity College, Kandy.
The exhibition in Jaffna is scheduled for January 8 and 9, 2011 at
the Jafffna Central College, he said.
Hassan said: "The exhibitions will attract a significant population
of students from all over the country as there are three consecutive
events taking place.
We intended to organise an 'Adyapana International' exclusively for
international higher education institutes.
This in turn will enable local students to seek more international
and local higher education opportunities after their Ordinary and
Advanced Levels."
A gateway to pursue higher education opportunities, ADYAPANA 2010
sets the platform to meet thousands of prospective students/institutes
all under one roof.
More than 15,000 prospective visitors are expected to attend this
grand three-day event in Colombo while a larger student community is
expected from Kandy and Jaffna.
The sub events are being held in collaboration with Trinity College,
Kandy and Jaffna Central College.
Adyapana is an opportunity for those seeking top-quality education at
affordable prices," Hasan said.
