Phase II of water conservation project launched

Presentation of the book ‘Water and Life’ to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees by MD/CEO Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC, Kishu Gomes and Kalasoori Sathischandra Edirisinghe.

Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC, Marketer of Caltex, Havoline and Delo brands of lubricants in Sri Lanka together with the Mihindu Cultural Foundation recently launched a highly informative and educational book for schoolchildren on Sri Lanka's national hydro-culture and water heritage titled 'Water and Life'. It is to be donated to over two thousand school libraries islandwide.

The book is designed to promote water conservation, anti-contamination and impact on the socio-economic landscape of the country and contains an array of images depicting Sri Lanka's extraordinary aquatic ecosystem, together with other educational information. "Water is critical not only to life, but also to the economic growth of a nation and its environmental outcomes. Due to the scarcity of water, continued economic growth can only be achieved at the expense of the environment.

This being a significant concern for all citizens, the book is timely and will create environment consciousness among schoolchildren", said Managing Director/CEO, Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC, Kishu Gomes.
