NDB's SME scheme for East

NDB Bank's recently launched SME banking scheme, `Divi Aruna' has been introduced to Batticaloa and Ampara.

The scheme aims to provide funding will develop the lives of the communities, empowering them to make the most of their entrepreneurial skills; to take up new business ventures, thereby elevating their social standing.

Chief Executive Officer Russel De Mel said NDB believes in changing lifestyles everyday. To change a lifestyle, there must be a source of livelihood.

After the 30 year conflict NDB Bank carries out its lending activities in the Northern and Eastern regions.

"Before we start rolling our traditional products in these regions, we believe in restoring Livelihoods. The NDB Divi Aruna scheme is a step towards making this change" he said.

The beneficiaries of this scheme will now be able to capitalize on their entrepreneurial skills, thereby enhancing their livelihoods. Having conducted the first phase of NDB `Divi Aruna' in Jaffna last month, NDB Bank identified the need among these individuals for a financing facility that will help them rebuild their lives.
