Make the music dates

A chance meeting with him, you strike up a casual conversation, but you’ll never realise that you are rapporting with a guy who is a remarkable and superb musician. Dylan Lye guitarist and vocalist is too humble in his ways to speak about his musical artistry.

But you see him on stage and his is a changed personality. His fingerwork on the guitar fret board is fiery dynamic and amazing. He is sure about the varying tempos, they come naturally to him. And when he sings along with the guitar notes you stay rooted listening to him and wanting to hear more... Dylan Lye will be back in Sri Lanka from Hong Kong with his group to perform at the forthcoming jazz festival at the Mount Lavinia Hotel.

His group comprises Adonis De Jesus, Tak Hong Tsang, Anthony Fernandes, Bubu Wijesinghe and the beautiful singer with distinctive vocal stylings Jennifer Palor who was in Sri Lanka on an earlier occasion with Dylan Lye. Dylan, the famed guitarist with the Jetliners led by Mignonne Fernando, is happy to have another opportunity to be back home to play for his fans in music.

The Dave O’Higgins Quartet from the UK are also billed to perform at the festival, at the Mount. They too were in Sri Lanka before and performed successful dates. The Quartet comprised Dave O’Higgins blowing tenor saxophone, Tom Cawley piano, Arnie Somogyi on acoustic bass with Sebastian de Krom on drums. Dave has won many accolades from the British jazz awards and has played over the years with named musicians and singers.

Critics have reviewed him as “a stunning player with an apparently effortless flow of coherent ideas, beautiful time and a highly developed harmonic sense.”

Sri Lankan percussionist Sunil de Silva now domiciled in Australia will be performing with the band Ohzone led by Andrew Oh, a Singapore born Australian. An accomplished saxophonist he leads a jazz septet with Armondo Hurley on vocals, Emile Nelson on bass and on keyboards will be Ara Naccesins. Mitch Farmer will be playing drums and the percussion spotlight will fall on Sunil de Silva.
