Outright win for Marians

CRICKET: Right arm off spinner Umesh Karunaratne took a matchbag of eleven wickets to spearhead Chilaw Marians CC to a comprehensive nine wicket outright victory over Sri Lanka Navy SC with a day to spare in their SLC Under 23 Division I cricket tournament match which concluded at Welisara yesterday.

Navy SC: 171 and 150 (D. Chandima 25, P. Edirisinghe 20, C. Ruwansiri 20, L. Keerthi 33, D. Mendis 22, U. Karunaratne 6 for 62, M. Laiyanapathiranage 4 for 66).

Chilaw Marians CC: 233 (G. Alwis 65, L. Weragala 32, B. Samarawickrema 51, S. Silva 33 n.o, D. Chaminda 3 for 47, D. Chandrasiri 4 for 18) and 90 for 1 (G. Alwis 38 n.o, L. Weragala 20, G. Kumara 35 n.o).

Angelo 167

Former Sri Lanka youth player Angelo Perera hammered a splendid 167 not out as the NCC piled up 374 for 7 in their second innings on the second day of their SLC Under 23 division I three day cricket tournament match against the BRC which continued at Havelock Park yesterday.

NCC: 140 and 374 for 7 (A. Perera 167 n.o, S. Pussegolla 59, H. Mawjood 46 n.o, M. Madushan 3 for 121, R. Perera 2 for 54).

BRC: 191 (Y. Abeykoon 28, A. Solomons 27, T. Perera 36 n.o, M. Madushanka 41, R. Laksiri 5 for 54, R. Wijenayake 3 for 69).

Moors on 1st innings

Moors SC put up a fine performance to snatch a close first innings lead over Sri Lanka Air Force SC on the second day of their SLC Under 23 division I three day cricket tournament match which continued at Braybrooke Place yesterday.

Moors SC: 214 and 207 for 4 (D. Madumal 67, S. Jayasuriya 111).

Air Force SC: 203 (S. Bulathgala 64, A. Samarasekera 55, A. Gihan 44, S. Fernando 4 for 45, M. Perera 3 for 44, I. Samarasuriya 2 for 14).

Nilanka 4 for 39

Fast bowler Nilanka Premaratne snapped up four wickets for 39 to give Ragama CC a good first innings lead over SSC on the second day of their SLC Under-23 Division I three day cricket tournament match which continued at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Ragama CC: 297 and 184 for 8 (N. Mazahir 45, S. Ranasuriya 36, N. Fernando 30, S. Wickrema 5 for 86, S. Ramesh 2 for 44).

SSC: 177 (U. Bandara 53, G. Manishan 34, A. Jayasinghe 34, N. Premaratne 4 for 39, V. Perera 3 for 41).

Gayashan 127

Opener Gayashan Weerasekera hammered a magnificent 127 to put Tamil Union on course to an outright victory over Seeduwa, Raddoluwa CC on the second day of their SLC Under 23 division I three day cricket tournament match which continued at Katunayake yesterday.

Seeduwa Raddoluwa CC: 230 and 54 for 4 (C. Ranaweera 31 n.o, I. Udana 3 for 24).

Tamil Union: 408 for 8 decl (G. Weerasekera 127, D. Jayatilleke 91, A. Nanayakkara 46, U. Peiris 41 I. Udana 3, A. Gafoor 4 for 112, K. Ekenayake 3 for 120).
