S. Thomas' rowers take major honours at Asian International Regatta

ROWING: The rowers from S. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia put up
a splendid performance to carry away major honours, taking the senior
and junior overall challenge Cups at the Asian Schools Rowing
Association International Regatta held at the Rowing Centre, Chennai,
India.
Over 52 schools from countries India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Abu Dhabi
and Japan participated in this regatta, making it the biggest schools
regatta on the Asian rowing calendar.
S. Thomas' College won three gold medals of which school captain
Sajeev de Silva captured two-in the single sculls and coxed fours (seniors).The
other gold medals went to Thomian boys under 15 coxed fours.
S. Thomas' College also won the UNIFI Overall Challenge Cup for the
boys overall. The Thomian crew displayed a splended level of rowing
throughout the three day regatta.
Results
Boys under 19: Gold Medals winner in the coxed fours-Chamal Jayanetti
(Bow), Shelan de Livera (2), Sajeev de Silva (3), Sajin de Livera
(Stroke).
Bronze Medal winners in the coxed fours-Akshath Wickremanayake (B),
Shavendra Goonathileke (2), Zydhney Fazzal (3), Milan Joseph (S). Bronze
Medal winners in the double sculls - Chamal Jayanetti (B), Shelan de
Livera (S). Gold Medal winner in the single scull - Sajeev de Silva.
Boys under 15 category - Gold Medal winners in the coxed four: Sachin
Munasinghe (B) Sandesh Bartleet (2), Anuradha Nadaraja (3), Ramith
Nanayakkara (S), Kemil Peters (C). The Thomian team was represented by
Sajeev de Silva (Captain) Amrick Varia, Chamal Jayanetti, Shelan de
Livera, Sajin de Livera, Akshath Wickremanayake, Shavendra Goonathileke,
Zydhney Fazzal, Milan Joseph, Shakil Latiff, Sachin Munasinghe, Sandesh
Bartleet, Anuradha Nadaraja, Ramith Nanayakkara, Kemil Peters, Dillon
Ranaweera (Master-in-Charge) and Chevantha Sirimanne (coach). |
