The Commercial Bank of Ceylon together with MoneyGram International
recently conducted a campaign to promote its money transfer service
among Sri Lankan expatriates in Cyprus who make remittances to Sri
Lanka.
Several senior officers of the Bank visited Cyprus to carry out this
promotion.
The group visited ethnic locations in Cyprus such as Sri Lankan shops
and restaurants and met community leaders to discuss ways to make
remitting money back home more convenient. The team also carried out a
street promotion and a special price promotion that attracted nearly
1000 people, and sponsored an event to celebrate the Cyprus New Year.
This is the second collaborative effort of Commercial Bank and
MoneyGram International at an overseas location.
Last year, the Bank carried out a similar campaign targeting Sri
Lankans in France.
The Commercial Bank signed up with MoneyGram, the global funds
transfer company in 2007 to further enhance the Bank's market share in
the remittance business and to expand its presence in other parts of the
world, especially North America and Western Europe.
Ranked first among Banking institutions in Sri Lanka in the latest
Business Today rankings, the Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC owns a
network of 182 branches and supermarket banking counters and operates an
automated teller network of 372 ATMs in Sri Lanka.
