Facets: exquisite gems, jewellery on show

“Sri Lanka could usher in a new chapter for gems and jewellery through cooperation and exchange with the Yunnan Province in China,” said Governor, Yunnan Province, Qin Guangrong addressing the Facets 20th Sri Lanka International Gem and Jewellery Show at the BMICH on Thursday.

“We welcome Sri Lankans to visit the Yunnan Province to see its glamorous gems and jewellery and invest in the fabulous market”, Guangrong said.

China has a rich heritage in the gem and jewellery sector that has brought prestige to the country and the Asian region for centuries.

“Sri Lanka’s gems and jewellery are crystal and glamorous as the Indian Ocean. The precious stones are admired by all in the world. The Facets show has grown in size and content and it would be one of the major gem and jewellery shows in the world”, he said.

The Governor of the Yunnan Province accompanies a delegation of 200 investors and businessmen in the gem and jewellery trade.

Chairman, Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association, Macky Hashim said Facets Sri Lanka has been introduced to the emerging markets of Russia, China and India.

Delegates from China, Myanmar, Russia, India and Thailand are present at Facets which concludes today.
