Third District Secretaries convention

The Public Administration Ministry will launch a massive development drive at over 100 public sector institutions in the Northern District with the commencement of the third District Secretaries Convention to be held at the Jaffna District Secretariat, tomorrow (September 6).

Over 200 senior government officials, 11 Divisional Secretaries in the Jaffna District and 25 District Secretaries from other parts of the country will also make their representation at the convention.

Public Administration Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne told the Sunday Observer that the objective of holding such a convention for the first time in the Northern District is to strengthen the administration work of all Public sector Institutions and also look into the unresolved problems of general public.

He said at this juncture, when a peaceful atmosphere prevails in the Jaffna District we decided to discuss with Government officials on certain burning issues pertaining to Northern citizens, including health, education, agriculture, land, housing and construction, road development and the distribution of National Identity Cards. "We give priority to the problems of resettled families, including their education and health, road development and the construction of new houses," he added.
