Third District Secretaries convention

The Public Administration Ministry will launch a massive development
drive at over 100 public sector institutions in the Northern District
with the commencement of the third District Secretaries Convention to be
held at the Jaffna District Secretariat, tomorrow (September 6).
Over 200 senior government officials, 11 Divisional Secretaries in
the Jaffna District and 25 District Secretaries from other parts of the
country will also make their representation at the convention.
Public Administration Minister W.D.J. Seneviratne told the Sunday
Observer that the objective of holding such a convention for the first
time in the Northern District is to strengthen the administration work
of all Public sector Institutions and also look into the unresolved
problems of general public.
He said at this juncture, when a peaceful atmosphere prevails in the
Jaffna District we decided to discuss with Government officials on
certain burning issues pertaining to Northern citizens, including
health, education, agriculture, land, housing and construction, road
development and the distribution of National Identity Cards. "We give
priority to the problems of resettled families, including their
education and health, road development and the construction of new
houses," he added.
