Lothario nabbed by police

A handsome young man who duped several women by promising them marriage and later stole their cash and gold jewellery worth lakhs of rupees was arrested by the Rattota police last week, the Police Media Spokesman SP Prishantha Jayakody told the Sunday Observer

The Spokesman said the suspect aged 31 was arrested by Sub Inspector of Police S. Bulathgama and Police Sergeant Prematilaka on a tip off while riding a motor cycle with a woman in the Rattota town last Wednesday.

According to police the suspect befriended a pretty woman who returned to the Island recently from Cyprus. He had promised to marry her after getting a divorce from his wife.

The woman who was in deeply in love with him had given him Rs one lakh for his expenses.

The suspect from Arangala Matale was married to a school teacher from Moneragala and was the father of a child.
