Radhika Dias Bandaranaike and Zinufa Razik will hold an exhibition of their paintings at the Harol Peries Gallery, Guildford Crescent, Colombo 7 from October 1-3. The exhibition will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The new production of Suba Saha Yasa directed by Saiman Navagaththegama, will be staged at the Lionel Wendt Theatre on 26 September at 3.30 p.m. and 6.45 p.m. The cast include Sriyantha Mendis, Nihal Fernando, Kusum Renu, Samadara Ariyawansa, Wasantha Wittachchi, Amaradasa Thalgahagoda, Deepika Abeygunaratne, Ratne D. Nambuge, Premakumara Dassanayake, Kumara Thirimadura, Susil Perera, Neil Ravindra, Ravindra Ariyarathna and Asoka Zoysa.

The National Crafts Council (NCC), Sri Lankan High Commission India, Indian Handicrafts Development Commissioner's office and Sri Lanka Tourist Promotion Institute will hold the Shilpa Sri Lanka Handicrafts Sales Exhibition at Delhi Haat Handicrafts Sales Center in New Delhi, India from October 29 to November 11.

The sales exhibition has been organized to open new avenues for Sri Lanka handicrafts artists to enter international handicrafts markets. About 11 veteran Sri Lankan handicraftsmen will participate in the exhibition.

Sunil Sri's, 'Bara Avi' will be staged at Elphinstone Theatre, Colombo from September 26-28 to mark its 100th show under the patronage of Stage Management and Reforms Minister Ratnasiri Wickremanayake, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Minister, Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and Environment Minister, Anura Priyadarshana Yapa. The plot of the drama is centered on the ongoing ecological disaster in the country.

The cast include Susila Kottege, Rajitha Hiran, Nanda Hettiarachchi and Chatura Perera.


Bharatha Natyam recital

Bharatha Natyam recital of the students of the Indian Cultural Centre Colombo will be held at the Indian Cultural Centre auditorium, 133, Buddhaloka Mawatha Colombo-4, on 28 September at 6.p.m.

The students are trained in classical Bharatha Natyam by Ms.Subashini Pathmanathan who is an eminent Sri Lankan born Bharatha Natyam exponent, dance Guru, and scholar in Bharatha Natyam. She belongs to the Vazuvoor School in Classical Bharatha Natyam. Vazuvoor style is a unique style in Classical Bharatha Natyam and the most graceful style in classical Bharatha Natyam.

"Nourishing & Nursing Nature" wild life photographic exhibition will be held on October 1,2 and 3 at Kandy City Centre .


"My Way II"

The second solo photographic exhibition of Lester Fernando (LISLP) titled "My Way II," will be held from 1 to 3 October at the Lionel Wendt Memorial Art Centre, 18 Guildford Crescent, Colombo 7. Fernando is one of the most longstanding members of the Photographic Society of Sri Lanka, and a member of the Institute of Sri Lankan Photographers. This collection of 80 colour and black and white images will have a special focus on nature and the environment. It reflects the distillation of years of experience and dedication by the author to the art of pictorial photography. The exhibition opens at 9.30 a.m. and closes at 7.00 p.m. each day.

Singer Saman de Silva leaves for London to perform at a dinner dance organised by UK OBA of Dharmaraja College Kandy to be held on October 2 in Kingsbury RMB Hall.

"Nrithy Shrinkar" - a classical dance recital will be staged by the Hindu Students Union of S.Thomas' College, Mount Lavinia on October 2, at the Ramakrishna Mission Hall, Wellawatte.

The dances are choreographed by Bharatha Natyam exponents such as Kalasuri Vasugy Jegatheeswaran of Natya Kala Mandhir, Mrs. Suriyakala Chandrika Jeevananthan of Shri Ram Shrishti School of Dance, Mrs. Geethanjali Sudharshan of Swasthic Dance Academy and Mrs. Shanthi Ganesharajah of Niruthya Narthnalayam Dance School. The chief guest will be S. Kumaranathan, an old boy of S.Thomas' College.

Sando Harris's rib tickling drama 'Sajantge Nandamma' (Sergeant's mother-in-law) will be staged at the Town Hall, Padaviya today at 3.30 p.m. and 6.30 p.m.

The cast include Sando Harris, Chanchala Warnasuriya, Shiromi Fernando, Udaya Thalpawila, Milinda Perera, Padmasiri Gamage, Kapila Sigera and Saveendra.


Wasantha's exhibition at Kelaniya

Wasantha Namaskara's 77th Exhibition of selected paintings named ''Pole Star'' will be held on 8 - 9 and 10 of October at 175, Dippitigoda Road, Dalugama,Kelaniya. [Close to 6th mile post Kandy Road.]
