Security Forces’ role in Jaffna commended

Security Forces in Jaffna have been commended for their role in
uplifting the living standard of the low income families in the Jaffna
peninsula.
Assistant Director, Department of Animal Products and Health in
Jaffna Dr. (Mrs) V. Amirthalingam thanked Jaffna Security Forces
Commander Major General Mahinda Hathurusinghe and his officers for their
involvement in enhancing the educational activities and livelihood
programs and improving the health conditions of the adults and children
affected by malnutrition in Jaffna.
She said that within a short period, the Security Forces in Jaffna
have done an enormous job in building peace and improving the living
conditions in the peninsula.
Dr. Amirthalingam was addressing an event to launch some special
projects in the area.
The function was organised by the 51 Division, commanded by Major
General Janaka Walgama, to distribute 4,000 chicks to 400 destitute
families in Manipay. Battalions deployed under the 511, 512 and 513
Brigades contributed to this worthy course under the guidance of their
brigade commanders.
Security Forces - Jaffna under the directive of Maj. Gen.
Hathurusinghe initiated the project to distribute chicken among 6,000
families.Chairs, tables, toys and other educational items were handed
over to the Suthumalai Navalar Pre-school.
